A goal-oriented approach.
Our physical therapy services focus on getting you moving again. This may be the result of disorders, injuries to the musculoskeletal system (muscles, bones, joints, ligaments, and tendons), or post-operative orthopedic rehabilitation needs. Our staff is trained in a variety of modalities to treat pain and balance issues to get back more of your body’s functions.
We know you have goals, and we’ll help you get there through a combination of innovative techniques that may include:
- Building muscular endurance
- Functional training
- Pain management
- Education to prevent injury or re-injury
- Training with assistive devices
Get back to your daily activities.
Occupational therapy focuses on restoring the activities of daily living associated with an illness or injury. These activities include writing, eating, driving, dressing, bathing, and activities requiring fine motor skills such as buttoning a shirt or tying shoes. Additionally, we will introduce you to different pieces of equipment that will help make daily activities a little easier.
Occupational therapy helps in the emotional and social adjustments following an illness or injury to help you regain your independence, self-reliance, and confidence, allowing you to age in place.
Individualized care to improve oral disorders.
Being able to communicate is important at any age, but it is vital for seniors. They must be able to describe what they need or where something hurts to avoid a potential emergency. Our speech therapy program treats language, cognitive, speech, and feeding difficulties resulting from an accident, stroke or neurological condition. We also work with families on the oral disorder and how to cope with the associated stress.
Speech therapy also applies to memory loss. We teach compensatory strategies for deficits you may have as they relate to communicating.
From a dietary perspective, we will work with you or whoever prepares your meals on how to adjust meal preparation in order to facilitate swallowing.
EmpowerMe is specialized in memory care.
